Watch insurance

Understand your cover before choosing a policy. The value of your watch matters, but so do where you wear it and the risks you want covered.

01

At home

For a watch worth a few thousand euros, first check your existing contents or homeowners policy. Cover depends on insured events, jewellery limits and exclusions. A limit may apply to all jewellery together, rather than each watch.

02

Outside your home

Cover at home does not automatically cover a watch on your wrist outside. Check an away-from-home extension for theft, robbery and accidental damage. Loss may be excluded.

03

Valuable watches & collections

When the insured limit is too low, or you need broader protection, compare a valuables extension with specialist watch insurance. Confirm the agreed value, collection limit, valuation requirements and storage conditions. There is no worldwide euro threshold.

04

Travelling with your watch

Worldwide cover describes where a policy applies, not who can buy it. Check residence eligibility, trip restrictions and limits for watches. Travel baggage insurance may offer only limited protection.

A higher value is a reason to check your limits, not an automatic requirement to buy a separate policy. Even a lower-value watch may need additional cover outside your home.

Before you decide

  • Theft, robbery, accidental damage and loss: which are covered?
  • Limit per watch and for all jewellery or the collection
  • Replacement value, market value or agreed appraised value
  • Excess, exclusions, safe requirements and unattended items
  • Territorial cover and your country of residence
  • Receipt, serial number, photographs and valuation report
